Chameleon returns to the decks with a new lease of life
Written by Tara on 09-06-14 23:37 (7253 views) (1 comment)
The music scene can be a tough mistress and given the destructive impact digitisation and its demons have had on the careers of even the top DJs and producers, it’s hardly surprising that many hang up their headphones to replace them with a pipe and slippers, never to get back behind the decks. It therefore makes it even more special when, after having a break, the occasional maestro actually returns refreshed and ready for action.

With a headline set at this weekend’s Life party and gigs confirmed at Noisily Festival of Music and Arts and Awaken Festival of Transformative and Visionary Culture, it’s safe to say that Chameleon has once again changed colour and is back on track to rock the dancefloor.

Dare to be different: Tribal Village meets Suduaya
Written by Andy Force on 29-04-14 23:07 (11791 views) (1 comment)
Innovation, originality and genuine creativity are values that too often come second to the tendency to ‘play it safe’ or to banally reconstruct art forms that have already gone before. The exploration of new ideas, and the courage to transform them into reality reflects a fundamental human characteristic that enables us as the ultimate creative species, with unlimited potential.

Tribal Village, fast becoming one of London’s best known psychedelic parties, have shunned the temptation to lapse into routines of familiarity. Making innovative choices of artists at each party, they have defined themselves by their willingness to push boundaries, injecting unseen artists and cutting edge music styles into the circulation of our scene. Trusted by a growing following of dedicated lovers of the psychedelic music experience, it seems like the future of our scene is held in the hands of those who dare to be different.

Lashes, Dimples and the Brighton Music Conference
Written by HarderFaster on 09-04-14 19:32 (21186 views)
In a change from the norm we have a guest interviewer in the shape of Dan Ascherl. Dan is a DJ and producer who has long been part of the fabric of the dance scene in Brighton, driving the more underground, darker sounds of trance in his role as co-promoter and resident at the J00F Editions nights with John 'OO' Flemming, part of the team behind the Brighton Music Conference (BMC). In this exclusive interview, Dan talks to the UK’s most successful female DJ – Lisa Lashes!

If there was a list of DJs that needed little introduction to the pages of HarderFaster then it would surely contain "Lashes". From being the original Queen of Hard Dance Lisa has stayed at the forefront of the industry, continually evolving and developing her sound as current trends and tastes dictate yet maintaining her own brand of originality. Worldwide bookings and continued popularity suggest a longevity many can only aspire to. As a guest speaker at the BMC and special guest at the BMC after party on the 11th April, Lisa talks to Dan about what’s in store for 2014, her new love of Psy-trance and more!

Keeping moving with Mechanimal!
Written by Andy Force on 31-03-14 20:27 (7647 views) (2 comments)
When Mechanimal blasted into our field of vision a few years back, already an astute musician and producer, it didn’t take long for him to become ingratiated into the fold of the UK psychedelic scene. Since then, Nick has been creating an international profile through his hard work on the road and his prolific labour inside the studio with dozens of releases under his belt. Now, with his debut album just released on Mutagen Records, things are looking bright for him, and the future of the music scene appears to be in good hands.

For those who don’t know, Mechanimal is the epoch of morning psychedelic trance, encapsulating all the magic and sparkle of the UK sound, turbo charged with extra oomph. As his new album Inertia flies in at the top of the Beatport chart, we cornered Nick for a chat to find out where he’s been, and what it’s like being at the cornerstone of his career.

HarderFaster Awards 2013 - The results are in!
Written by HarderFaster on 20-02-14 20:44 (13464 views) (9 comments)
Before 2013 faded into a complete blur, we asked HarderFaster members to look back and tell us who, what, when and where made the year memorable, whether that be for good or bad reasons.

This year’s poll saw a good turnout, and your votes continue to demonstrate their usual wit and wisdom with Josie managing a couple of mentions for festival and kerb appearing in every category.

And as we’ve noticed in our recent annual polls, you all have pretty diverse and eclectic tastes so we’ll continue to award top honours to those who were clearly in the lead and honourable mentions to those who were near the top.

Land Switcher – The Earth is Moving at Tribal Village
Written by Andy Force on 04-01-14 14:56 (9293 views) (2 comments)
The evolution of the psychedelic music landscape appears like a vision that is constantly in flux, repeatedly melting and reforming to reveal increasingly unique, complex, and colourful forms. These distinct musical apparitions emerge into our reality and entangle themselves into the social, psychological, and spiritual forces that draw us together. They continue the cycle of creativity, artistry and human connection that creates the magic of the psychedelic experience we share.

Hailing from the French music scene and signed to Free-Spirit Records Land Switcher are an exciting new discovery that are set to take the psychedelic scene by storm. With a brand new EP just released, their music seems to reflect that of the artist whose search for originality, creativity and expression precedes any other motivations. Broken acidic grooves dripping in dubby, earthly rhythms submerged in disrupted psychedelia that tune your brain into another dimension.

Thankfully a poetic description of their music isn’t all we have to go on, because Land Switcher are making an appearance at Tribal Village – A Psychedelic Adventure on the 11th of January at Crucifix Lane. Let’s get 2014 on the move with one of London’s most innovative and inviting psychedelic parties!

Menno de Jong has long been one of the most respected Trance DJ/Producers in the scene today. It was back in 2004 when he first burst onto the scene as a 20 year old with his debut production ‘Guanxi’ which was signed to Anjunabeats. Since then he has remixed for the likes of John O’Callaghan and The Thrillseekers as well as producing outstanding tracks such as ‘Spirit’, ‘Turtle Paradise’ & ‘Never Lose The Magic’

Having now spun in over 25 countries, the Flying Dutchman has played at clubs and events such as Godskitchen, Gatecrasher, Global Gathering, Tomorrowland and Sensation White. This NYE Menno will make his Trance Sanctuary debut as he headlines their exciting party at Studio 338 in London. With it being the biggest date on the clubbing calendar, we thought we should find out a bit more about the man who will be at the controls on this special night.

Talking psy trance with Jules Hamer
Written by Tara on 12-11-13 20:41 (10819 views) (1 comment)
The words ‘pioneer’ and ‘legend’ are often loosely bandied about on these pages, but with Jules Hamer aka Aphid Moon aka half of AMD with Dick Trevor having been involved in psychedelic trance since the mid-’90s, they are certainly well suited here.

These days Jules and Dickster are more often found headlining international festivals then playing in their native UK, so when we managed to book them both for an exceedingly rare London set at Astral Circus at Brixton Jamm this Friday 15 November, we were so excited we just had to ask Jules to answer some questions for HarderFaster...
