February Trance Chart
(artist/title/mix/label)
(1.) John O'Callaghan: 'Vendetta' (original mix) - Discover Dark Finally released after what seems like ages, this superb pumping, brooding piece of trance sounds like PVD after a healthy dose of rocket fuel and underlines O’Callaghan’s credentials as one of the best producers around.
(2.) Nu-NRG: 'Casino' (original mix) - Monster Another one that seems like it’s been in the works for ages but worth every moment of the wait. Incredible energy and a real sense of relentlessness make this probably my favourite Nu-NRG release so far.
(3.) Everything But The Girl: 'Missing' (Karl Gunton remix) - CDR I was never a fan of the original but Karl G has done great things with his amazing remix, transforming this seminal house track into a great pumping trancer. This one shook the floor at Knowwhere and you can’t help but sing along to the vocal.
(4.) Aramanja: 'Memories' (original mix) - Trance Tribe As I write this, the temperature outside is close to zero and it was snowing earlier. Good job there’s beautiful summery trance like this around to remind us of the sun. Lovely stuff from Australia’s Trance Tribe Recordings.
(5.) Terry Bones vs DJ Precision: 'Another Situation' (Sean Tyas remix) - Somatic Sense The original’s still in the boxes of plenty of DJs I know but it’s the remix from new Discover signing Sean Tyas that’s really doing it for me at the moment. Full-on driving trance that makes the most of that amazing breakdown.
(6.) Mystery Islands pres. K-De: '4th Floor' (original mix) - Monster With more than a nod to his wonderful remix of Duderstadt’s ‘Mahananda’, this original work by Mystery Islands is a fantastic uplifting melodic trancer with a real sense of power behind it. An incredible epic feel makes this one a must for those 3am moments.
(7.) Alex Morph: 'New Harvest' (Mike Shiver's Catching Sun mix) - Fenology As much as I tried to like the original, I always found it a bit bland. Mike Shiver changes all that and turns this dark driving trancer into an amazing piece of music that reminds you of summer.
(8.) Sophie Sugar: 'Isis' (Alex Morph mix 2) - ETCR Sophie Sugar follows up the superb ‘Call Of Tomorrow’ with this new one on Trance Communications’ digital imprint. Alex Morph steals the honours here with a trademark remix that has a real filmscore feel during the break.
(9.) Airbase: 'Escape' (original mix) – Intuition Surely one of the most versatile producers in trance, Jezper aka Airbase (and over a dozen other aliases) turns in this breathy, wistful-sounding trancer that’s one to play to those people who say trance isn’t ‘proper’ music. ;-)
(10.) Push: 'Strange World 2006' (M.I.K.E.'s 2006 rework) - Club Elite I’ve never really been a big fan of Push tracks but this updated rework of ‘Strange World’ is a class apart thanks to a healthy injection of power and clever use of the melody.

Can't wait to hear the Mike Shiver remix (I think he's wicked) and the Airbase thing. Haven't heard much from them recently.
