Banco de Gaia

The Banco de Gaia machine rolls on. But its not a new edition of the Rewritten Histories album or a new single. Its actually more interesting than that. A Banco de Gaia remix album that collates some of his remixes from back in the day to now. Collecting remixes for Youth & Gaudi, HED, Ensemble Bash and Desert Trax owners Desert Dwellers, whom I absolutely LOVE, amongst remixes for Oliver Lieb, Sophie Barker and Mr C., this album is really a snapshot or a preview for the long-awaited new Banco album.

With 15 mixes on offer, this album is no slouch. There are some pretty fine remixes on offer; with Shiva Nataraj by Desert Dwellers being a particular fave of mine. The remix being on the Nomadic Ecstatic Volume 1 EP. on Yogitunes. There's even a slice of banging techno in the form of LSG's "Get Out (Remix by Banco de Gaia)", which is an absolute beast and so damn good to hear in full. Also included is the rather epic Gold Dub Woman mix of Sophie Barker's "Gold Dust Woman".

I really do hope there's a second edition because this first part shows Banco's evolution in remixing; providing a cool, leftfield, almost melancholic, view of the tracks on offer. In particular, his work on Shiva Nataraj by Desert Dwellers. The lo-slung slow motion calmness. Lovely. Anyway...

Lets bask in the warm glowing glow (The Simpsons reference there) of some of Banco's sought-after remixes on this momentously enjoyable package. On the whole, I've liked the entire package; with special mention for the Shiva Nataraj remix and the Sophie Barker remix.
