I had a good time, but that was due to the atmosphere and having my friends with me, rather than anything the promoters done (apart from booking good DJs) - the lack of effort they put in to that party was astoundingly poor.

I mean, there was not a single piece of decor, the countdown was derisory - stop-starting on a tune on bang on midnight (as opposed to timing things perfectly and dropping a tune in a breakdown), and offering nothing other than two paltry confetti bombs. It was almost insulting.

Added to that, there wasn't a single lazer. Every trance clubber would agree that it adds to the night - especially at Air (I remember the lazer covers the entire room at the perfect head height). Why would you not have one? Just to save a couple of quid? And I think that's just it - it was quite clear they were relying on their strong brand name to entice the punters, and worked on a 'minimum spend-maximum cash return' policy. £3 for cloak room?! Fuck off!
I know they're a business, and profit is everything, but this approach actually makes very little business sense in the long term.
NYE is all about the occasion. Did they attempt to make the night memorable, and tempt people in to coming back next year? Not really.

I remember going to back-in-the-day hard dance events for NYE, and they'd have tons of decor, a giant countdown clock, pyrotechnics, you name it. And unlike Godskitchen, these were small promotions with a limited budget.

I'm going to send them an email and ask them what they thought they offered for the extra inflated ticket price; because as far as I could see, we actually got less much v.f.m. than from a night that costs a tenner.

Like I say, good fun was had by all, but the party has already gone down in history as 'just another night'.
It could, and should, have been a much better NYE experience. Shame.

I think next year I would consider a hard dance event again for NYE - does look good.

It's worth doing it. I would be interested to see what their response is. Keep us posted Ed and happy new year to you!

I'm with Ed on this one....add to that the music being decidedly bland all night. It was fun but no thanks to GK (and I used to be their biggest fan).

i think we paid £17.50 but those were early bird tickets I think

And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow,
Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings;
There midnight's all a-glimmer, and noon a purple glow,
And evening full of the linnet's wings.
