Dave Pearce has long been the face (or voice) of trance for the general radio listening public, his shows on the radio have probably done more for trance in the mainstream than any other so when you get the latest CD bearing his name you’ll have a pretty good idea of what it’s going to contain.
This release is a full on triple CD with 60 tracks, each one containing a selection of the past, present and future. With 20 tracks on each you’re not going to get massively long and fluid mixes however it’s far from the worst I’ve heard in respect to cramming them in and it all works reasonably well. They all structured suitably with no discernable jumps in tempo or style and as you’d expect from a studio release it’s mixed tighter than a gnats chuff.
For those with a more underground taste this isn’t going to be for you. Most of the tracks will have had or will be aimed at, some sort of commercial success so with this in mind the track selection is fairly obvious. It’s clearly marketed for those who like a bit of trance when they go clubbing every now and then but are no aficionados but wanted something for home or the car. It’s honest enough and doesn’t pretend it’s anything else.
