Emanations Visionary Art Gallery at Elixir of Life
Easter Bank Holiday – Saturday 7 April 2012
Licensed Hackney Wick Warehouse
Emanations Visionary Art: 8pm – 10pm
Party time: 10pm – 6am

Spring is here and the world is full of new life and possibilities. Easter is almost upon us and here at Elixir of Life we’ve put together perhaps our most exciting event yet.

Starting at 8pm with the Emanations Visionary Art Gallery], curator Emma Watkinson is assembling a delectable exhibition of the world’s most inspiring visionary art from international artists Martina Hoffman, Robert Venosa, Amanda Sage, Luke Brown, Carey Thompson, Autumn Skye Morrison, David Heskin, Andrew Jones and Aloria Weaver and home-grown works from Daniel Mirante, Basia Wiacek, Emma Watkinson, Bruce Rimell and Timea Tallian. In addition to live painting, Emma will give a talk on the emerging visionary art movement, from its historic roots in fantastic realism, the psychedelic revolution of the ’60s and indigenous shamanism, to the present dynamic part it plays in festival culture and its future role in the raising of consciousness in these pivotal times.

Daniel Mirante will give a presentation on ancient, historical and contemporary visionary art lineages and creativity. He’ll explore the sacred role of myth making and dreaming in our hearts, minds and culture. Evocation of the sacred is becoming vital for our survival as a species – it is the inherent urge to protect and value our living world and the evolutionary capacities in each one of us.

We’ve also just added the work of incredible visionary artist Martina Hoffman to the line-up. Considered one of the world’s most prominent contemporary female visionary artists, her paintings offer the viewer an insight into her inner landscapes – imagery inspired by expanded states of consciousness such as meditation, shamanic journeys and the dream state. A central theme of Martina’s work is the sacred feminine and it has been exhibited and collected all over the globe, so we’re very excited to be bringing it to Emanations. See www.martinahoffman.com for more info.

Martina traveled the globe with her deeply loved partner and artistic accomplice of 30 years, Robert Venosa. Together they lectured about ‘Fantastic’ or visionary art and held painting workshops and seminars for over two decades. Venosa generously shared the techniques and experiences that entice and enchant one and all as to the magic and mysteries of the transcendent realms he inhabited... and painted.

Venosa’s visionary art has also been exhibited worldwide and is represented in major collections, including those of noted museums, rock stars and European aristocracy. In addition to painting, sculpting and film design – pre sketches and conceptual design for the movie Dune, Fire in the Sky for Paramount Pictures and Race for Atlantis for IMAX – Venosa enjoyed computer art as part of his creative menu.

As Dr. Albert Hofmann has said, “My wish for the coming age is that humanity becomes once again conscious of our spiritual union with the divine works of art – inspired creations by masters such as Robert Venosa.” Robert Venosa peacefully transcended on August 9, 2011. He is sorely missed by all who knew him and internationally recognized as an outstanding master of ‘Fantastic’ or visionary art. This is the first time his art is coming to Hackney Wick!

“Bravo Venosa! Dali is pleased to see spiritual madness painted with such a fine technique.” Salvador Dali

“Robert Venosa creates mythical mindscapes that fascinate and illuminate. His tableaux are windows into timeless vistas of the inner realities.” Timothy Leary

“Robert Venosa’s art truly captures the imprint of a spiritual force; each painting so alive, seeming to breathe, pulsate and stare back at you, challenging the viewer to also reach their highest potential.” Carlos Santana

At 10pm the party properly kicks off. The Main Room sees the rare return of Goa trailblazer Koxbox aka Frank E to London, as well as Slinky Wizard, Etnica, Masterblasters, Beady Weardy, M-Theory, Andy Force and many more. With Elixir main men Liquid Ross and Shane Gobi programming the sounds, expect the cream of the old school alongside the latest cutting edge psychedelic trance!

Hosted by electronic pioneers Flying Rhino Records, the techno room presents the likes of living legend George Barker, Ans and The Egg. Meanwhile Milli Moonstone, Slackbaba and Zubzub ensure the Mindscapes Chill Out will rejuvenate your feet and your spirit.
