So Paul, how come you've been given the last set at Heat NYD?
Well the best way to answer this is to quote Damian Gelle of Heat: "For me Paul Henry is one of the few up and coming DJs out there who won't compromise his set by dropping in a 'one-off-crowd-pleaser'. I've seen him relentlessly build a set. When I first announced he would be playing last set at The Fridge on New Year's Day alongside the likes of Paul Glazby and Ian M no one seemed surprised - because musically it made perfect sense! "
I must say I'm WELL pleased with this one, it's definitely a dream come true! To play last set in the main room at the Fridge on New Years Day, for one of the best clubbing productions around, Heat, is just mind blowing!
For those who are not familiar with your DJing, what's your playing style?
I play a mixed bag really, hard house, hard trance, some techno and even funky house, it all depends on the music policy of the event. I think being as versatile as possible keeps things fresh and interesting for myself as well as for the clubber.
You're playing after some of the hardest men in Hard Dance, Ian M, Paul Glazby and Ilogik which has got to be a hard act to follow... are you going to be keeping it hard or try do something different?
I know! I am a bit nervous, but am relishing the challenge. It's a massive line up and I'm very excited about playing on the same bill as them. I'll think I'll be banging it quite hard for this event, nice!
Is your track with Dave Lochrie, Plan B, going to get an airing? Any other upfront stuff in your bag that you're planning to drop into your set?
I doubt Plan B will get an airing, I don't think it'll fit in with the music policy of the day. Pity we haven't finished the harder remix yet, otherwise I definitely would have played it!
I have a few corkers in my bag that I'll be playing thanks to the legend that is Danny Gilligan. His 2 tunes made with Ingo, Powwer and Kill Bill, are definitely going to be doing dancefloor damage at Heat NYD : Recovery! Bring it on!
Does playing last mean you're going to be tucked up in bed straight after midnight on NYE?
Ha ha, most definitely! (well that's what I want Damo to believe anyway!). No, I'll be out and about on NYE, last year's count down at the Academy for Heat NYE was awesome, I'll definitely be there to see this years count down!
Any idea what your end of set tune is going to be? What have Heat got in store for the end of of the event?
Lets just say it'll be a crowd pleaser, I won't reveal any more, you'll have to be there to hear and experience it!
Damian is tight-lipped about the ending but said it would be a white New Year with a lot of weapons of mass destruction! As usual, Heat have some special tricks up their sleeves, all I know is you're in for an awesome day if you come down to Heat NYD: Recovery!!!
