Latest Impact Recordings and here we have a rare appearance on the label from the king of hard trance Phil Reynolds who teams up with label owner Ben Bennett on "Progress" and the result is a monster of a tune!
The Original Mix is what Impact is all about - driving hard trance at its best. Right from the start its very intense and packed with energy. The basis here is phat as usual - good tight and clean drums and percussions and that typical heart-throbbing rolling bassline sound, awesome! As it steadily builds with sounds it introduces various stabs, cut-up vocal samples and a massive dirty riff filtering out of the dark - almost in a hard house way before the piano and a big trance line filling the remaining space to take us to the epic hard trance ride. The main theme in the break is pure hands-in-the-air and after the proper buildup its relentless action up to the end. Brilliant!
Adrenaline Dept Remix introduces an acid line after some nice and interesting ravey breakbeat intermission in the breakdown which also contains a Doe-esque bass synth. Apart from that it's pretty much on the same tip with slight different key changes on the bassline. Very decent and equally good in terms of its energy output comparing to the original, but probably lacks a bit of epicness in my eyes - have a listen and decide yourself!
The package is completed with Electric Shandy boss MacTeck delivering a plodding tech/trance interpretation - something for the lovers of more laid-back trance sound to play with. It has interesting percussive elements incorporated and could be a useful building tool.
Altogether a very very tasty release, more of this please!
