» 4 Tribes (Wanna Be Starting Somethin') (Under The Knife Remixes)

Label: Nukleuz
Format: Digital
Genre: Hard Dance

After finding success with the 2008 mixes of "Blackout", which included an ace remix by DeejayBee & Diverse, Nukleuz move on to another Organ Donors classic. Part of the Under The Knife remix concept, the first single is "4 Tribes (Wanna Be Starting Somethin')", a track made famous by the late great Michael Jackson. Remixes are provided by BK, Joey V and Will Atkinson.

First up, we have BK who is still celebrating the release of the 2009 mixes of "Revolution". Starting with a rolling beat, this remix hits the ground running with the famous sample wrapped around the hi-tempo stylings of Mr K. After the intro, its the typical BK sound; fast=paced hard dance with cool glitchy effects and, as always, the vocals ever present. I like the way that BK has approached this; keeping the tempo quite high and hard. But it isn't too hard that you can't have a good groove to it. Thumbs up

Joey V provides the second Under The Knife mix and, like the BK mix, starts with the samples and with a machine gun-style drum roll to get things going. Slightly slower (but only slightly!) than BK's mix, this is a good head-nodder. It still utilises the glitching effects of the previous mix with slight variations. I also like the geiger counter-style effects around the four minute mark, which are coupled with the machine gun effects. Fairly cool.

My favourite mix of the whole package is Will Atkinson's version. After remixing P.H.A.T.T., Melodia and releasing "Perpetual Sunrise", this is Will Atkinson at his best; whipping up a full-on trance storm. And it has a rather ace techno-style middle as well which I really loved. There is also a really nice breakdown which slows the track right down with the vocals lowering in pitch; like when you turn a record player off during a track. And then after that, the track hits you in the face with the ace techno-style bit. Big grin Noice!
