As far as tweaking is concerned, I had to do endless tweaks and still got issues and was never able to nail it down except to a hint towards a Win7 specific flaw with regards to midi. Never had any issues with XP admittadly but then the hardware I was using wasn't pro grade. Can't comment on Win 8.

13"? Yikes! I can't imagine using Ableton on a screen that small! My HP screen is pretty good, not a retina display but I have no issues with it. I'm not anti-Mac as I say, I just can't afford or justify spending the money on one (and they've discontinued their 17" line it seems.)
