I know that there are certainly hindus in india and pakistan who gang-rape so it isn't beyond possibility. I also accept that muslims are the largest demographic of religion in pakistan and the latest grooming gang had a man originally from pakistan at it's centre, there certainly is a lot of crossover. Whether these people were particularly religious at all let alone what religion isn't clear in anything I've read. as has been pointed out, there are rapey catholics too, then all sorts of child rape in Africa and indonesia, ( and then all the rapey white guys in thailand etc which you have agreed we have an issue with).
My point is it is more of a cultural thing than a religion thing and also these towns are all seemingly northern, I've yet to hear of any grooming gangs in say, Luton, maybe there is more to it.
