It’s brilliant. Not only are we leaving the EU, who’s laws actually kept us relatively safe from overtly batshit policies. We’re now being run, likely unopposed for years, by a tory party that have already cut funding to schools but are doing their utmost to destroy and privatise the NHS. Among a shit load of other things.

The best one will be when those who voted leave start to get affected by this stuff that they will cry “Why is this being allowed to happen.”

Well because you took away one of the few checks in place to stop this shit.

Ask the majority of leave voters how we’ll be better off and they haven’t got a clue what to say.

The unwavering, I-can't-hear-you Brexiters remind me of people sucked into MLM schemes; they've twigged that it's a scam and a pointless waste of time for all except those at the very top, but are too embarrassed to admit this to anyone, so they simply convince themselves (much like David Starkey in an earlier post) that it's bound to work out in the end and a new Golden Age is just around the corner. All of their sorry arses belong in the punching thread tbh.

Schools have been royally fucked by this government, and will become even more so with the onset of Brexit. England has a shortage of teachers across the board, but schools' budgets have been shrunk so much that many of them simply don't have the money to pay for the teachers they desperately need. Remaining teachers shoulder extra workload, get stressed, leave, school gets even worse and can't attract replacements for love nor money, repeat. This is already happening, particularly in STEM subjects and in the north.

Everyone thought the whole 'austerity' thing was/is a calamitous shitshow, but the real one has only just begun.

Aren't many of the Brexiters golden oldies who probably won't see past the two years when it'll be implemented.

Karma is a beautiful thing.

Yes we probably are, but nobody has bothered to ask why we voted No to remaining in the EU and our vision for the future relationship between the UK and EU.

Instead the government is pandering to the "ban immigrants" brigade and we're heading off the cliff.

Why? The referendum question was whether the UK should leave the EU and we all voted accordingly. There was no box for or against immigration, contributions to the EU, EU law etc.

This is the only research I've seen on the reasons for voting: http://lordashcroftpolls.com/2016/06/how-the-united-kingdom-voted-and-why/

Belittling each other isn't helping us get a good result, we're pandering to the worst elements of each side rather than asking questions and joining together to dictate how we move forward.

Actually, on reflection, it's even stranger that the government who were supposedly pro remain are looking to impose the harshest version of Brexit possible.

Why not take the opportunity to call a general election and put a moderate vision to the vote?

I am suprised that, given the weakness of Labour right now, that the Tories haven't capitalised on this. Called another GE in an attempt to tighten their grip on the country.

I mean I'm glad they haven't.
