Donald Trump tweeted his condolences shortly after, writing: ‘My prayers and condolences to the families of the victims of the terrible Florida shooting.

‘No child, teacher or anyone else should ever feel unsafe in an American school.

‘My thoughts and prayers are with the students, their families and the entire community.

Not the sensible approach of restricting gun ownership, this translates to "let's arm the teachers"...

Quote:
Teachers are being trained to carry guns in classrooms in Colorado in order to protect children as part of a scheme motivated by a school massacre in 2012.

The three-day course, which consists of firearms and medical training, was launched on Tuesday in Weld County.

Seventeen members of staff who "would like to be considered armed first responders" have so far taken part.

The pilot programme will allow volunteers to enter schools with guns under US "concealed carry" laws.

Laughs out loud it wouldn't surprise me, they've been influencing government policy for years and resisting any restrictions.

I wonder if any NRA supporters have been affected by these kind of shootings and have changed their opinions Scratches Chin

So the best solution according to Trump is to arm teachers. Way beyond satire.

In the years to come so many adults would have been witness to school/mass shootings that the tide has to turn. All these 'kids' that are being dismissed now will be voting age soon.

Miss Sloane

8/10 for this highly topical movie about extending background checks on gun purchases.

Free on Amazon Prime movies

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miss_Sloane

Quote:
Elizabeth Sloane (Jessica Chastain) is a cutthroat lobbyist who has been called to appear at a congressional hearing led by Senator Ronald Sperling (John Lithgow) to answer questions about possible violations of Senate ethics rules during her tenure at Washington D.C. lobbying firm Cole Kravitz & Waterman.

Three months and one week earlier, Sloane's firm is approached by gun manufacturing representative Bob Sanford (Chuck Shamata) to lead the opposition to the proposed Heaton-Harris bill that would expand background checks on gun purchases, specifically by targeting female voters. Sloane ridicules Sanford's idea and is later approached by Rodolfo Schmidt (Mark Strong), the head of rival lobbying firm Peterson Wyatt, to instead lead the effort in support of the bill.
