Time machine time again! This time, we head back 12 months to 2019 and a sort of Best Of album on Banco de Gaia's Disco Gecko Recordings. 30 Times Around The Sun is a chronology of Banco's wares. This includes remixes and past tracks. This album lays out all of Banco's seminal tracks in chronological order; from 1989 to 2019. The album is available in two flavours: mixed in four parts and unmixed full length 12" versions. We're on the unmixed variant.
The tracks on here are all uncut so you're getting the real deal and a lot of bang for your buck. Stand outs for me are Tempra, a lo-slung Enigma-like foray into ambient dance, complete with ethereal vocals, Rabbit In The Moon's remix of Drunk As A Monk and Touching The Void [Smells Like Salvation]. Some tracks make an appearance from Rewritten Histories too; like the Small And Cuddly mix of Kincajou and the original of Sakarya.
What's interesting is that 30 Times doesn't just include the well-known tracks, it also includes the lesser-known ones and begins with two of Banco's first forays into production. There are also live tracks scattered here and there as well. So its a wonderfully mixed bag of sounds, beats and landscapes. Nice work!
