Background

It became obvious to my parents that DJing was a keen interest of mine when I recorded over some of my dad’s favourite cassettes aged only 5 and a half. My impeccable tune selection, cross fading skills and rambled mutterings on the mic obviously made a lasting impression on my parents as they got me an invite to our local radio station several years later. Since then I have explored various musical avenues from keyboard and guitar lessons, to playing the piano and singing. Since GCSE I have studied music taking ABRSM Theory exams to Grade 5, Piano, Music Technology A-Level and also Music Technology degree. I now teach music to teenagers using the revolutionary "Tobin Music System" which I am fully supportive of. I also teach the basics of production, soundtracks, music for film etc. and run a home based fully fledged production studio, which Alan Banks likes to come and break.
DJing started off being like a typical teenager in the nineties - I bought a pair of decks and gradually over time built up a nice little rig of speakers and lights. The records I was buying were mostly trance; Armin - Blue Fear, Binary Finary 1998, that sort of stuff. It wasn't long before my business minded antics found a regular source of income from this new found hobby - Discos! Oh yes, I went all the way, as soon as I was old enough to drive I bought a huge twin axel trailer, fitted a tow bar to my car and charged £200 a gig, 2 nights a week. During the day I worked in a music shop and spent all my wages on CDs and vinyl, and I still have the most extensive collection of 70's, 80's and party cheese music you would ever see. Of course, my main love was trance, so I sought after work playing funky house & commercial dance at bars etc. Soon I realised that you didn't have to go to Ibiza to find a 'proper' club (and thus, proper music) - They had them in London. I put DJing on the backburner when I went to uni to do a degree in music technology, and started clubbing, properly, in London - The first club that I really enjoyed was Knowwhere @ The Soundshaft and I had such a good night, I haven't missed a single Knowwhere ever since.
Around this time I was a keen photographer and had some nice camera gear so started getting photography work to pay for my new clubbing addiction. Eventually, common sense rang my doorbell and I decided to combine the two (clubbing & photography, not common sense & doorbells) and did my first ever Harder Faster photoset - Knowwhere at their (then) new venue, The Fridge. After lots of hard work, doing a photoset for them every month, Stevie eventually entitled me to Knowwhere's official photographer status.
In summer 2006 I decided to turn what was previously an amateur little studio into something much more substantial and put together a trance demo to concentrate my efforts into taking my music and DJing further. By the end of the year I had gained interest from 3 promotions, a guest mix for Adam Whites Euphoria show on Ministry of Sound radio and a couple of bookings to play out. My productions and remixes have since been played out all over London and have even been charted and included on demos by other trance DJs.
Music is something I enjoy passionately from many perspectives and I would like to think it shows in my DJ sets and the music I produce.
