How many parents are really out there saying their kids can do that though. You're talking about a minority. Pretty much all parents, except perhaps serial benefit bludgers and the nampiest of hippies, are going to instilkl a work ethic in their child.

I do love that you've contradicted yourself (as usual) with a later statement.

"He can grow up to do whatever he wants. All I'd want from him is to have a working attitude and not waste his time."

So can your child do what they want or not?

To be fair to Donnie there are a fuckton of little olivers around Muswell Hill and Hampstead/Highgate whose paren't think just that. usually they eat crayons and bunk school/ sorry, "do art". I'm sure there are more of these fuckers elsewhere in london

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those that could not hear the music -Nietzsche

Everything that Donnie and I are saying is all theory anyway. We will only find out when the time comes. Of course we want our ideal situations, but Ive already realised, it doesnt work like that and you have to take each day at a time.

I do really hope he is enjoying it as much as me!

What would you hope for you child then?

I can only imagine your child is hoping for adoption.

No, when it comes to Scarlett I will need to be way more neutral on how things are discussed, especially at such a young age. She will be taught that animals are there to provide but at the same time, you dont have to eat animals to survive "look at mommy" Will let her make her own choice, it has to be fair. I have discussed this with Penny and its the only way. Thats why, I will mke meat dishes taste so amazing that she wont want to not eat them Devilish

I always told my boys that I didn't know all the answers but I believed a certain thing and that other people believed other things and it was up to them to find what they thought was right. This was the case in all things from, religion, politics, vegetarianism, music.

I also always tried to talk to my kids like they were adults when they were young. I hate it when people talk down to children or talk gobbledygook to babies. I always valued their opinions and tried to talk things out with them rather than dictating.
Obviously it didn't always work, kids will be kids and young kids will always try to push.

I've never done baby talk with my two, I've always talked to them like young adults and I feel their speech is much better than some of their friends. We never did the "this is a choo-choo" thing, it was always a 'train'. I feel they can articulate themselves really well, even my son who is 2. But obviously I'm biased.

Exactly. Talk to your kids as if they are stupid and they will talk to you like they are stupid.

The other thing that irritates me (and there are a few examples in my own extended family) is when people get their kids to get up and do little show pieces, singing, dancing, gymnastics etc. When asked at family gatherings I always used to tell people that they are not performing monkeys.

Well you know these areas better than me and I have seen the Highgate Mums Twitter thing so not suggesting these kids and parents out there. I can only go by my experience and I don't see it in huge numbers.
