Exactly that. I had to tell Penny's mom not to even think about filling her head with negative stuff about meat as she will be old enough in no time to make her own decision and will be a quick way for restricted access to her grand daughter. Her mom is vegan and tried to to take me on about eating meat, she quickly realised to keep her opinion to herself. Its a lifestyle choice no matter what your beliefs are, I respect it, just dont try and tell one of the worlds biggest meat eaters about stopping. LOL, I literally laughed in her face and cooked a huge, bloody steak on purpose Laughs out loud

One of the 3 is fully vegetarian, the other two eat meat quite happily but it's not essential.

There's a dilemma with this, you don't want to fill her head with negative stuff about meat, yet I expect you'll be your usual opinionated self on most matters. I don't think that's a bad thing, but striking a balance between what daddy believes and says, and Scarlett making her own mind up will be interesting.

Let's revisit this in 5/10/15/20 years and see what happens Wink

Well, you sound like a terrible father! So if you son wants to go to ballet over football, you wont support him? What if he turns out gay, you sound like you would disown him? Parent who try to control their kids end up having a shit relationship, I had an awful relationship with my parents until i was 27/28 and realised they are who they are and I cant hate on them. That is not going to happen with Scarlett and Ill support any decision she wants to a degree, especially when she is just a child.

I reckon the mum shouldve aborted as by the sounds of it, looks like the kid is going to grow up without a father anyway. I hope you sort it out, your life sounds a mess right now, maybe its why you come across extra angry on this site?

What are you talking about?

If he's gay that's no problem, if he wants to do ballet I'd get him a dress.

The idea that your child can do what he or she wants and you'd be happy with it is laughable.

That's alright son, you drop out of college and sit on the sofa, no problem at all.

You want to go 50k in debt at uni to study the life and works of Brittany Spears? Yeah go for it, that'll be a good idea.

What's that, you're going to kick someone's head in? Here, have this pole, you'll do more damage with that.

Ridiculous.

He can grow up to do whatever he wants. All I'd want from him is to have a working attitude and not waste his time. There are plenty of kids going to uni who shouldn't, studying things that will not benefit them.

Why on earth would any parent support that? That doesn't mean I'd stop them.

Get overwhelmed when she opens a beer for you. Razz

Get more overwhelmed when she comes home drunk and falls into their expensive guitar.
(I think that was at about 17).

What would you hope for you child then?

I can only imagine your child is hoping for adoption.

A good honest trade like a hod carrier or ground worker, a healthy hatred of Muslims and a desire to spend large amounts of money on ridiculous shoes.

Just to have a work ethic.

As long as he's got that I'll be happy.

If he just fucks around then I won't be happy.

This whole "my child can do what they want" is such a vacuous, meaningless statement"

No parent will support everything their kid does.

If you bring your kid up right then you will support them in whatever they do.
I have always tried my best to support both my boys in whatever they do and they are doing much more interesting and challenging things than I ever did at their ages.
I couldn't be prouder of them, but if they decided that whatever they were doing wasn't for them then I would respect that decision and support them in whatever new direction they decided to go in.

Behave.

Plenty of good parents have seen their kids get sucked into all sorts of things and couldn't stop their downfall.

Sometimes it's luck. Luck that the friends they make are decent people.

Being a good parent is part of it. Not all of it.

Mine started walking unaided around 9 months and properly outside at about 14-15.

WAT? It took a little over 13 years for it to venture outside? Were you keeping it in the basement or something?
