Sorry if this sounds a little bit cynical but, wouldn't it be better to get on with life as normal instead of wasting a minutes worth of productivity on a minutes silence to 'remember people'?

I always pay remembrance in November but playing devils advocate does it not 'let the terrorists win' to stop for a minute for every single attack in the western world?

I don't see people stopping to remember people that are massacred in developing nations on a daily basis, or those in syria etc.

Since when did you care anyway? If people want to pay respect, that's up to them, not you. Besides, it probably wastes less time than people who sleep in the toilet at work.
