People paying stupid amounts of money for... money.
Nesa has 3 sequential notes that she is holding on to as well. I was going to hold on to mine but decided lunch was more important.
"Do you believe in the devil? You know, a supreme evil being dedicated to the temptation, corruption, and destruction of man?"
"I'm not sure that man needs the help." (Calvin & Hobbes)
You laugh, but I was in Oz when the world's first polymer notes were released there in 1988.
After years of research, they came out with a bit flourish. Only to be withdrawn shortly afterwards when people discovered you could scratch the hologram off
Unfortunately, I missed getting any of those, they are worth a fortune, but I still have some of the next release.

Get 'em flogged. Do you think they will go up in value from now? How much are they worth to collectors?

I'm sure retailers everywhere are fucking DELIGHTED at having to change their tills to accommodate this new shape coin...

Quite. Not tills though but I get what you are alluding to.
Those who rely on mechs to gauge coinage, namely those who take coins as automatic payment, will be livid. Thinking fruit machines and parking machines amongst others.
You'd think a grant would be available for those retailers who rely on such things.
It's not their fault that this came in.
But on the other hand, those who manufacture the mechs that fit in such machines will be rubbing their hands at such a windfall.
