No, not the first, that would be CRAZY! But, as I've had a few relationships, grown up etc and made a mistake or two or three, I've met at least one person who I was totally in love with and could spend the rest of my life with. I don't believe there's just "the one" but many potential partners. It's finding them that is quite difficult. But I do know that when this happens, I'll know and I won't commit unless I'm totally sure. Of course.

It's completely true that you can't possibly predict how a relationship will go, and to get married to somebody really isn't the cleverest move, and is based on fleeting emotion, at best.
It's not my opinion that it's settling - it genuinely is. You've given up and said "this is the best I can do", coupled with "this person is always gonna be great for me". Both are massively naive, and you'll forgive me if I don't accept sympathy from somebody living in such a mindset. It's akin to having Christians say they feel bad as I'm going to hell. I don't buy their fairy tale, just as I don't buy the marriage one.
This is where we differ.
I believe in marriage, I'm just now against saying "I love you".
AS IF somebody you meet now will grow and change in exactly the same way you do, for the rest of your lives. lol It's fine if both parties are pretty manilla characters, I guess.
