Had a course on contract law today. Ha, talk of equality. If a woman is on maternity leave and is down as one of a group of people on the list to get made redundant then if there is one job on offer they have to offer her thee job

But if its a man on paternity leave

He's not protected

Its totally unfair, we've got redundancies coming this year so loads of the admin girls are planning to get pregnant. Jeezo, I don't need a job THAT much.

I also accrued all my annual leave when I was off for a full year on maternity, so when I came back I instantly had 32 days to take. So I worked a 2 day week for ages. That didn't go down too well with the other teachers here.

That really annoys me. If someone has been off for over half a year then are they entitled to a full years worth of annual leave?

Absolute Fact

I actually felt really guilty taking it, I didn't feel I had accrued holiday. I wasn't gonna turn it down though...

Consider it balance for the fact that women get less pay and get charged more for female products. Smile

By all means take it if they are offering it and don't feel guilty. It just shouldn't be offered.

They wouldn't give a new starter a full years worth of annual leave if they started midway through the year.

Absolute Fact

I've suggsted they spend one full Saturday in my house when my son decides to wake at 5:30am and daughter has found a Biro and decides to write on our white sofa, all the while they're both screaming that they want Coco-pops but they want to eat it with an old McDonalds straw whilst watching Teenage Ninja Hero Turtles for the gazillionth time.
