Mega-Booze Brands Rave About West Africa

Reported by News Editor / Submitted 10-10-14 15:37

Smirnoff Ice are sponsoring a ‘Jungle Rave’ in Ghana this weekend (October 4) where they promise to ‘make good times better for its consumers’ via limbo dance competitions and music from local heroes DJ Black and Joey B.

“The Smirnoff Double Side campaign is aimed at giving young adults the opportunity to break free from their typical lifestyles,” Head Of Innovations chief Mrs Solange Kuimo told GhanaWeb.com. (http://bit.ly/1x5vRi3 )

“Smirnoff Double Side campaign creates the platform for the young adult to show the other side of their character not known to their peers to give them a feel of their unusual self,” she added.

Details of the vodka conglomerate’ campaign emerged just as Heineken promised to transform nightlife in Nigeria via a new series of events kicking off with Akon and TLC’s ‘official DJ’ Benny D.

"This is a very exciting time for us, for the first time in Nigeria, Heineken® engages consumers through music. Globally Heineken® is seen as being a part of the Nightlife experience in clubs,” Senior Brand Manager Heineken, Ngozi Nkwoji told AllAfrica.com.

“Ultimately we want to show that Heineken® can bring a different spin to the nightlife experience as you know it.” http://bit.ly/1E9FQaS

Akon himself played a gig in Africa’s Democratic Republic of the Congo town of Goma last month, offering a different spin by practicing his regular show-stopping USP of stage diving in a giant inflatable bubble. Hip-hop bible the Source, however was confused.

“The Ebola virus is no joke,” said the Source, “and to avoid contracting it from anybody, when Akon left the stage to crowd surf with the people that were attending his concert, he did so in a huge plastic protective bubble.” (http://bit.ly/1pMsiHC )

Although modern and progressive attitudes also prevail, you should show respect for traditional values and morals. Dress modestly in public . . . Even possession of small amounts of marijuana can lead to a prison sentence in excess of 5 years, usually after a lengthy and expensive legal process. Bail is not normally granted . . .”)
