Yo!
2005 - fire it up.
Big thankx to Andy Farley for putting me as his ‘hottest new talent of 2004’ in the end of year review in DJ Mag, much appreciated.
Also thankx to www.harddancelondon.com for voting me their favourite DJ of the year and also ‘best thing to happen in 2004’ after themselves, your support means the world to me.
For all those enjoying my latest Euphoria mix, glad you like it, 2004 was a good year - 2005 is all about taking it up to the next level, and starting to explore more across-the-board hard dance.
I’ve done a new mix which will be handed out in limited numbers very soon @ a Frantic event little more trance & techiness in this one, some insane basslines and great vocals.
It is basically a selection of what I’ve been playing in the clubs for the last 2 months of 2004, hope you like it.
Coming in 2005 -my website, solo tracks (plus follow-ups to WTF?! & Deadlock), new mixes and much much more…watch this space!
A different approach to charts for me this year also, instead of just a track and label, I’m adding a little description of the track and what its doing for me on the dancefloors, enjoy!
January Chart:
1) Serge & Green meet Andy Whitby – Anything Like This (Original + Ingo & Barratt remix) (Synapse)
Andrew Whitby, Matthew Sargent, Sam Green, Tom Ingamells and Colin Barratt. Good combination, awesome result of a track. Both the original & remix are driving with an incredible vocal, when this kicks in, its really does the damage!
2) Wid & Ben meet Andy Whitby – The Virus (cdr)
Myself, Widdop and Mistress Thomas pile into a studio and come up with something special; funky/almost untidy dubs style bassline and an uber uplifting riff after a killer vocal. Golly gosh!
3) K8 – Santuary (K-Series)
The long awaited follow up to one of my fav tunes of 2004 (Airwave) rolls in and by god…it’s a belter! Watch as an entire building of clubbers throw their hands in the air…brilliant stuff!
4) Andy Whitby & Greg Brookman – Bump in the night (cdr)
The follow-up to ‘Ibiza recovered’ and the mighty ‘Deadlock’ …we’ve gone eeeerrrrieeeee & dark. Monster riff, breakbeat middle and a bit of an animal when it kicks back in.
5) Jon Langford & Paul Chambers – Yeah but no but (cdr)
Bouncy…fun…mayhem. Something that’s been lost on far too many dancefloors up until this year, and this track is nothing short of dancefloor bedlam. Little britain goes f*&king banana’s!
6) Paul Maddox – In it for the kicks (cdr)
Bassline of the year? Yep. One of the hottest tracks in my box, awesome vocal and makes the kids weep when drops. Paul Maddox…nothing short of amazing.
7) Ingo & Barratt – Concentrate (cdr)
Like ‘Scare tactic’ but darker, dirtier and more twisted. This is a techno-inflenced beast of a track with one of my favourite basslines I’ve heard in a while…there’s no escape!
8) Neon Lights – Fine Day (K-Series remix) (cdr)
‘It’s a fine day, people open windows’….. or something lol….a timeless classic gets the Langford master touch and its everything you’d expect from Captain K-Series, happy, uplifting and does absolute dancefloor damage.
9) Sharkboy – Night Time (Technikal remix) (cdr)
A classic vocal track brought up to date my the man of the moment Alf Bamford. Tough, euphoric and uplifting, its everything I look for in a hard dance track, great great grrrrrrreat stuff.
10) Cortez & York – Skydive (cdr)
You can’t beat a bit of remade classic trance and this is superb, vocal sounds perfectly fit to a slightly tougher track, the breakdown is teasing and then….it drops. Top work from the boys.
11) Skylab Nine - Naked In The Rain (Vinylgroover & Red Hed remix) (Kickin records)
Scott and his partner in crime remake an absolute classic...and its immense. Hard techno-influence, with the all important vocal cuts. Great stuff.
12) Greg Brookman & Co – Anybody, Everybody (cdr)
Greg’s best track to date, stupidly uplifting and happy, destined for big things from the dinner-jacket man. Makes grown men & women alike smile when everything is becoming a little too serious across our nations dancefloors.
13) Breather – Come On (Ben Kaye remix) (cdr)
Trance-tastic to begin, hard in the middle…its an great remake of a timeless classic, am I the only DJ that does the hand motions to the words whilst mixing it? He he.
14) Rumble & Maddox – Erupt (cdr)
’Everybody’s hardcore’, ‘Rumpshaker’, ‘So Long’, ‘Party People’…the list of good Maddox & Rundell tracks continues to grow. Quite minimal and groovy til the breakdown…then it gets nasty.
15) Technikal presents: Pienaar – Global Panic Theme/Carl Nicholson – System Shock (Tidy)
My ‘tune of the year 2004’; Global Panic has torn across every dancefloor I’ve played on and with its awesome b-side I predict it will be one of the releases of 2005. Incredible.[/b]
16) Ayla – Ayla ([I]Andy Whitby Vs. Serge & Withenshaw remix) (cdr)
Taking a while to finish but it needs to be perfect, early play has resulting in chaos, coming soon to a dancefloor near you.
17) Masif DJs – Silence (Technikal’s found the sunrise remix) (Masif)
The most asked about track of my sets through December, this is simply brilliant. Alf Bamford is a evil boy genius with no bounds known to his superhuman tune making talents.
18) Paul Glazby – I need to know (Tidy)
This track for me is the best thing Paul’s done since ‘kick it’ and considering the incredible ‘beautiful’, ‘hellfire remix’ and ‘voices’ that’s saying a lot! Great stuff from the dark destoryer.
19) Azure & Serge – Walk the walk (cdr)
What happens when one of favourite producer goes into the studio with one of my tips for 2005? A Jules style groover with catchy vocal and brilliant breakdown! One for the early sets. Many talk it but few can walk it.
20) Withenshaw & Moloney – Umbongo (Shroom)
Producer wizzkid and all round top bloke Si Withenshaw cooks up a techno-treat with #1 bean-giver Paul Moloney. Signed to the ever growing Shroom Recordings, yes it’s a techno remake of the fruit juice advert and yes…its going to be HUGE.
Cheers me dears!
Andy.
