Probably a case of ignorance is bliss.

Brexit with no deal risks chaos in drug supply, report warns

Interestingly, under WTO rules, pharmaceuticals is one of the few items which is 0% rated for import and export so there should be no impact on costs.

This report focusses on regulation which starts with the basis that UK guidelines are identical to those in the EU so we start with a level playing field. It's true the UK will need to set up their own standards agency but I trust we'll adopt a sensible approach to accepting EU testing.

Theresa May wants to enshrine in law that Brexit will happen at 23:00 on 29 March 2019

Why?

Is this a message to the EU that we're leaving, with or without a deal?

In other news, Lord Kerr who wrote Article 50 confirms Brexit can be reversed

Quote:
Lord Kerr told the BBC: "It is not irrevocable - you can change your mind while the process is going on."

"During that period, if a country were to decide actually we don't want to leave after all, everybody would be very cross about it being a waste of time."

"They might try to extract a political price but legally they couldn't insist that you leave."

I think it is to do with the fact the guy who invented article 50 has pointed out that brexit is technically reversable and she is lying by saying it isn't. The timing is uncanny otherwise.

Basically it is (as usual) all about her, she is desperately trying to get some wiggle room to be PM and get the brexiteers (I hate that term) off her back because they are fundamentally making the country weaker with their actions in government than stronger. If she enshrines it in law they might stop picking on her and she may be able to fire Boris.

This is a peculiar Tory thing, enshrining things in Law that don't need to be enshrined in Law, Osborne did the same thing with something too.

LOL just saw your other post

And M Barnier gives UK two weeks to clarify Brexit bill amount.

Quote:
"This is absolutely vital if we are to achieve sufficient progress in December," he said. "It is just a matter of settling accounts as in any separation."

"separation" is a negotiation on all aspects of the split, not just "settling accounts".

Grrr.

Not quite true, he has said we have 2 weeks if we are going to talk trade this year, considering that would take us up to the end of November he's being pretty realistic, they aren't going to get a lot of trade talks done if we still are arguing about the bill in December. Of all the things him and Davis have come out with that is fairly realistic looking at dates.

Ahh, good call! I saw it as the other way around but just noticed details of Lord Kerr's speech were revealed earlier in the week.

But doesn't this make it less likely she can fire Boris, he needs to be in the cabinet to take collective responsibility for Brexit which she's determined to drive us towards. If not, he'll be chucking rocks from the side-lines, fucking up the negotiations and goading both sides into a no-deal situation.

Given she's a remainer, I'd have thought she'd want the flexibility to wait until early 2019 when in all likelihood we won't have a deal and then call a second referendum.

I wonder if the EU is preparing an alternative deal for the UK to stay in? Something better than Cameron achieved which they could spring on the UK public to see if that changes peoples' opinion.

She isn't really anything apart from in it for herself and she sees this as the best way of clinging onto power.

As for Boris I think he has managed to disgrace himself enough that he could be thrown out and no longer need to be part of the "collective responsibility", he IMO has tainted himself enough even within his own party.
