» Exhibition VI

Label: Lost Language
Format: Digital
Genre: Progressive / Trance

Its very rare these days to find a trance compilation that actually contains trance music. Most are filled with trance-like EDM fodder but Lost Language know what trance is and they wake from their hiatus with the sixth album in the Exhibition series...and because the label has awoken, its pretty angry.

Mixed by Ben Lost, the album brings together the cutting-edge sound of progressive and combines it with full-on 4/4 trance. Simon Templar, 3 Access You, Paul Hawcroft and Audio Noir offer us some delectable sounds from the Lost Language catalogue. The full-on trance borders on psy, which is quite fitting since Ben Lost is part of the mighty goth-trance outfit Federation.

Favourite tracks for me? 3 Access You's dark take on "We Are One" by Ovnimoon, Peter Steele's mix of Machine by 3 Access You and the furiously uplifting remix, by Chris Porter, of Angry Skies by Tilt are particular faves of mine. Peetu S. adds a delicious remix of "Inner Laugh", which is utterly superb and slightly sacrilegious but in a good way.

While it can be said that Exhibition VI won't be everyone's cup of tea, it stands, for me at least, as a beacon of quality trance/progressive music from some of the scene's finest. If you like this brand of trance, check out Discover, Hi-Fish Digital and Zone Traxx.

Epic!
