I first heard about Canon Professional Services a few months ago from a fellow photographer and figured that the free maintenance service alone was worth the membership. I have enough gear to be a Gold member at the moment ($100/year).

This past week was the first time I used the service to get some gear repaired and I wanted to give some feedback on this that might be helpful to others.

I was shooting an event last weekend an my primary body (5d Mark III) started giving me an Error 30. Seemed to be an issue with the shutter so I used my Mark II instead (I never go without a spare!). My Mark III has a lot of miles on it and it's never been serviced nor had any issues so I didn't think twice about sending it in.

I called CPS prior to sending it because I had another booking coming up the following weekend that would be tough to do without it and the rep assured me I should have it back in my hands the day prior and suggested I also notate that on the repair paperwork. (Phone reps all very responsive and no long hold times)
