Because it is my home. I am passionate about the island and I love it here.
We are opening up in the UK though.
Pub trade is so tough though esp in this climate. My parents ran one here in Manchester for 10 years. Very hard work between the hours, watching the staff, stock & tills & then having to entertain the bastard customers! Draining.
Only love can leave such a mark, only love can heal such a scar.

It's fine here. Both my pubs are free houses, and I also have the brewery that supplies a fair amount of the ale. Tax here is pretty reasonable and most people have a decent income. Both pubs are comfortably in profit, and the brewery does ok as well.
I suspect it is completely different if you are a tenant.

Oh the breweries are robbing bastards. It was cheaper for us to get our beer anywhere else other than our own brewery. How on earth does that make sense?! So many overheads too. Have you always wanted to go into the pub trade or is it a family thing?
I was offered the chance of running a bar in Spain but backed out. Prefer to be the other side of the bar.

No. I have always enjoyed ale and been passionate about it. I have always been a pub man, and am passionate about "locals" so to speak. I invested in the brewery some time ago, but took a hands on strategic role recently. We are expanding into the UK in the next couple of months or so. I am loving it so far, but ultimately it will probably be a trade.

I enjoyed the craic alright. Used to waitress in a rugby pub in Dublin. Really nice customers, great grub too esp the seafood restaurant upstairs. Do you serve food?

Yes, in both pubs. We make our own sausages infused with some of the beers we brew. I also catch all the fish that is served in both pubs.

Any loony customers? I could write a book on ours. Such an education. I was just gone 16 when we moved here & believe it or not (ahem) was quite innocent.
