So I had sent out a link to my soundcloud to a few people I thought may have interest about a month ago.

Fast forward to a couple nights ago, and I got a response from a cousin of mine that I don’t really speak to regularly.

He, his brother and a few friends are hip hop artist, up and coming, and make pretty solid music with a philosophy behind it that aligns itself with mine as a producer.

He basically stated that they are interested in a good portion of my beat catalogue (as well as few that I do not have posted online) and said “name your price” in essence.

I have not sold any beats before, and I’m curious to know what would be a fair price to shoot him. He told me he was willing to pay a premium because A. He really likes them, as well as being stoked on the experimental nature of my music and how it meshes well with what they are trying to do, and B. Because we are family and he wants to support what I do.

I have zero interest in trying to charge him an exorbitant amount, I would just like to know what beats generally sell for, and I plan to give him a discount for buying a good chunk of them.

If anyone could provide me with some advice on this, it would be greatly appreciated.

If anyone is interested in checking out what I have posted online, my SoundCloud link is the same as my username.https://downloader.vip/minecraft-pocket-edition/ https://downloader.vip/counter-strike/ https://downloader.vip/google-play-services/

Thanks in advance for any help. Feel free to ask me any questions that may help clarify anything that would help you understand the situation more fully.

Up to you to consider all the options, if you want to charge a flat rate per beat or something based on exposure.

You don't want to rip off your mates but at the same time nobody wants to be the schmuck that sells a killer hook for 50 bucks that goes on to net millions for the guy that bought it from you. Does that artist expect what you sell them to be exclusive or do you want retain control of it for further exploitation of your own?

Would you maybe rather negotiate a co-writing credit on the tracks in which your beats get used? In which case, your remuneration would be based on how the end product performs. Otherwise, check out the pricing and contract models of some of the existing beat providers and base your strategy off that.
