Companies differ but I work in the public sector, so in my situation, I was only entitled to company maternity pay on the condition that if I didn't return to work, I'd be forced to pay it back. Then I need to be at work for a minimum of 20 weeks when I return before I can either leave or go off on maternity again.

Fairly sure those would be exceptional circumstances. Nobody NEEDS 3 children Wink And if they do, then they should be able to afford them rather than relying on hand outs from the State which is funded by taxpayers. I dunno This argument is available on HF already if you want to search for it Big grin

Careful, this kind of post could open a whole can of cylindrical, limbless intertebrates....

Day after day They send my friends away
To mansions cold and grey To the far side of town
Where the thin men stalk the streets While the sane stay underground
Day after day They tell me I can go
They tell me I can blow To the far side of town
Where it's pointless to be high 'Cause it's such a long way down

The can can be found with a simple search Wink

My bro's got 3. Both he & his wife work full-time. They have all 3 in private education & knowing my brother, he'll want them to go to university too.
I think it's shocking how some work shy keep on breeding.

Only love can leave such a mark, only love can heal such a scar.

This was similar for me, I also (if memory serves) only got full maternity for the first few months, which then dropped down for a few more months, leaving the last few months purely on the governmental allowance, with nothing from my work place.

First 2 months - 90% pay
month 3-9 - Statutory which is roughly £550-£600 ( depending how many week sin the month)
After month 9 - nothing or the £40 a week signing on amount.

Thats how it is now, not sure how long ago it was when you had your kids
