It's a shame really but Inside a branch looks like walking into the branch in the 1990s, nothing has changed - much less some of the stock on the shelves.
I can't see it surviving in its current form for long - except in train stations/airports etc where it has smaller branches which have most of what people want at that time and expect to pay inflated prices.
I thought HMV had already gone!?!?!
Smith's aren't helped by their ludicrous upselling policy, where you go in to buy a drink or some fags but are hectored at the till to also 'pre-order' the latest Harry Potter or buy whatever giant chocolate bars they're having trouble shifting or some other crap. As for HMV, they've still got a few shops open in the UK (also some under the 'Fopp' brand,) a couple in Ireland, and a few worldwide, but I'm amazed they've lasted this long.
Latex Zebra Yeah, something is probably happening somewhere.

If this were a PREDICTIONS thread then I'd be adding WH Smith onto the 'not long to go' list.
Good call, there's been an air of disorganisation and desperation around them for a while.
I'd also add HMV, Thornton's and House of Fraser.
HMV were in admin several times but have constantly turned themselves around and adapted to market changes and done all the right things to keep themselves going, unlike Virgin Music, that one that began with a Z, Woolworths etc.
