Compared to yours it looks bloody professional

Comparing the two is a bit of a waste of time.

The Torq is a more "all-in-one" solution, and it shows. The sliders aren't the most robust, the jogwheel isn't the best and overall, build quality is reasonable at best.

The XPs are a USB-fed replacement for a CDJ. You can bash the play/pause button like CDJers are used to and it doesn't complain, the platter control is pressure sensitive and works exactly the same as the CDJ1000 platter, the pitch slider is SOLID and feels like you can ride it, something I always struggled with on an actual CDJ. Of course, it's no all-on-one jobbie as you need at least a mixer, and maybe even 2 XP's to flow properly.

There was a rumour a while ago that EKS even bought a load of brokefuct CDJ1k's and used the platters in the first load of XPs....

Well yeah, I get that. I wasn't comparing feature sets - just pointing out that you can't dismiss the others for looking cheap and nasty when the ones he was originally looking at looked even more fisherprice.

The Otus, the XP series replacement, looks much better.

600 quid mind...

Wtf? You could get a top-end midi controller for that much.

It's really weird seeing you guys come at this from a "decks" point of view, as it inevitably leads to rather poor choices of gear, just to maintain things like jog-wheels, which are pretty much redundant in the world of laptop DJing.

They're redundant in the software you use.

They're far from redundant in the software I digitally DJ with, unless you want to be a megacunt and use auto-BPM and auto-matching...

Also, I like to mix how I would on CDJs or vinyl, but with the advantages of having all my music in one place and instantly findable. So I want something I can manipulate like I would a CDJ, I want to use a traditional DJ mixer as I'm used to it and know how to work one properly. I want something I could plonk alongside my mates 'tables and CDJs, plug into a spare channel and use in almost the same way.

Yes, you could buy a good MIDI controller, but that's what this is (it'll work in AL, even FL, Logic etc), except it's focused at people who want to mix like I do, using a MIDI controller and music on a PC in the same way as they can use wax or CDs.

How is that "being a megacunt"? It's just being smart and using new technology. It seems ridiculous to give yourself more work than you have to.

By sticking rigidly to the past you are left with a rather poor array of overpriced gear. Shrugs shoulders

Because it's cheating. It's there for n00bs who can't get their head round the basics of beatmatching......

I don't have the option to throw random loops from other stuff in or any of that nonsense, all I have is two players. I've beatmatched for the last 11 years I've been fartarsing about with playing music, so I'm not going to stop just because my software can do it for me.

I'm much more accurate anyway. And it's not exactly hard or taxing, so it's not really more work then I need to do.

And I wouldn't say I'm sticking to the past. It's just using new methods in an oldskool way.
