You are misunderstanding me. I am trying to say the vote for 'leave' might have been even bigger were it not for left-wing eurosceptics (such as myself) distaste for allowing the entire process to be organised and overseen by the Tories and/or UKIP
I say eurosceptic not hardcore Brexiteer as I think there are certain advantages to the union as it was in the late 90s but I am firmly against the overexpansion and superfederalisation that subsequently occured.

[edit] in fact you're not even misunderstanding me, you clearly didn't even read my post :/

I read your post, I was responding to this:

Quote:
And many people did vote 'Leave' as a protest against Austerity, because they think (right or wrong) that the EU is the cause of much of the austerity ill suffered by the UK, although that is by the by.

Many people who voted Leave, didn't vote Leave as a protest against austerity. They voted leave to regain sovereign control of the UK. This will include Immigration, Economics, Law, and Government policies.

To suggest people voted leave because of austerity, is plain and simple wrong because you make it sound like the UK depends on the EU/EZ - it does not. [In fact it is the other way round].

UK has its own sovereign currency, can set its own economic policies, and as a result, post 2008 Financial Crash, UK is the best performing economy in Europe based on GDP.

Do you think they had a plan?
I don't think they thought the country would vote to leave. They have no plan, they didn't get voted in on a manifesto regarding the manner of brexit and they didn't get voted in with May as leader.

I actually agree with you. Many thought this country would not vote leave, [I had a bet it would cos I love long odds], but this was simply a case of the Government being disconnected from reality. Major cities are always focal points in Elections etc, but the bulk of the votes were cast outside of cities like London and Edinburgh.

What Politicians have realised is that there is more to just campaigning (and appeasing) in strong hold regions. Brexit will now force politicians to address the nation as opposed to just concentrating on the financial sector in London. May is doing a fine job of this so far.

Do I think the Government had a plan? No. Do I think the likes of Nigel Farage had a plan? Yes.

We are leaving, a slim majority has voted for it. But I bet a lot of people have very different ideas on what exactly Brexit should look like. This should be put to the people.

See this as an opportunity and stop being pessimistic about it. Things like the failure of CETA work in our favour. Have faith, in the Commonwealth at least! Wink

The 350 million claim had very little to do with the Brexit vote. Most leavers, were older know their own mind and made it up along time ago.It was keeping to that decision which was hard with the onslaught of doom and gloom news from the Remain campaign before the referendum.

The Remainers were most likely um and arghing to the last minute.

The fact is we contribute 350 million a week and get some back from the EU if we are lucky and they are feeling benevolent enough and the net figure maybe less.

Its unlikely the EU will remain the happy clappy socialist utopia (if it ever was) that many imagine it was.The extreme right parties are gaining plenty of ground in all the EU countries and will be more interested in their own countries than the EU as a whole.

Next year will be the biggest test for the EU, so much so, the EU, and possibility the Euro, may become a footnote in history by the end of 2017.

- Dutch General Election.
- French General Election.
- German General Election.
- Italian Banks survival.
- German Bank survival.
- EU Banks survival.

In ten years time, the Remainers will admit leaving the EU was the best result, and the Leavers will be vindicated and exonerated of all crimes. In the process, May will finish what Thatcher could not complete.

I don't have faith in the Tory government to deliver something that works for the people.

Nigel was not and never will be prime minister. So him having a plan means fuck all.

This is what worries me. It sounds like Evil Overlord 101.

What is this Great Meisterwerk that is so cunning it has to be nameless? Firesale of remaining national assets to further feather the nests of the already sickeningly wealthy ruling class? Increase the rich/poor divide by another 800%?

Pound hits one-week high after data shows UK economy grew by 0.5pc after Brexit vote

There was a man in front of me in the queue in tesco's buying condoms.
When the cashier asked if he needed a bag, he said "No, she isn't that ugly"
