January 2005 Trance Chart
(1) Orbital: ‘One Perfect Sunrise’ (Triple Seven remix) – white A truly beautiful track, making the most of that amazing vocal. Easily my tune of the month.
(2) O’Callaghan vs Kearney: ‘Restricted Motion’ – Discover Probably John O’Callaghan’s best track to date, which is saying something given the quality of his previous releases. Pumping, futuristic-sounding trance: I can’t get enough of this tune at the moment.
(3) Vadim Zhukov: ‘Nothing Matters’ (Vadim’s Weekend mix) – Captivating This tune is all about the nice bouncy bassline and groove: the melody’s been done before but the energy of the track gives it that lift. A great early set tune for me.
(4) Miller & Fijneman: ‘San Pedro’ – In Trance We Trust Driving stabby trance in a similar vein to a lot of RVBD’s productions. I really like the way this track builds and builds while keeping all its changes relatively subtle.
(5) Kyau vs Albert: ‘Falling Anywhere’ (rework) – Euphonic One of those ‘feelgood’ tracks which puts smiles on faces across the dancefloor. Has a really summer-y feel to it, which is great for those miserable, freezing January nights. ;-)
(6) Sundawner: ‘Krystal Dreams’ (P.H.A.T.T. mix) – Monster Although Matti Laamanen’s original is an amazing piece of trance music, it always seemed to lack a bit of power. This huge remix solves that problem.
(7) Siberian Sun: ‘Frostbite’ – Dedicated Another John O’Callaghan production, proving he really can do no wrong at the moment. Both the original and Fred Baker mixes are fantastic, the original just edging it for me.
(8) Matt Williams & Phil Reynolds: ‘The Shout’ – EdisonFactor.net I was really looking forward to this and it doesn’t disappoint. Great bouncy trance with very distinctive-sounding synths.
(9) Apollonia: ‘Andromeda Heights’ – A State Of Trance A fantastic piece of melodic trance with enough energy to stop it drifting off and falling into the trap of becoming just another piece of trance music, as so many productions do. Great work: looking forward to the follow-up!
(10) Fred Baker vs Nyram: ‘Confirmation’ – In Trance We Trust Nice fluffy trance to get people smiling. ITWT look like they have a very high quality release schedule for 2005.
