Professor Chill

» Astral Stasis

Label: Disco Gecko Recordings
Format: Digital
Genre: Ambient / Dub

With its spacey atmosphere, the Astral Stasis EP by Professor Chill drops on Disco Gecko, home of Banco de Gaia. Prof. Chill has remixed Animat and dropped Flow State as his previous release and now drops the Astral Stasis playa on the DG imprint.

The tracks here are lengthy and are very atmospheric with a slightly proggy nature to them. My fave here is Distance. At 11:47, its the longest track on the EP with the previous two tracks weighing in at over 10 minutes each. The EP itself, as a whole, is well produced with a dub ambient ebb and flow to it. Again, as with the previous EP, I can see it being a staple of chillout DJ sets or even warm-up sets. I hope Banco gets the Chillster to remix a track or two on a forthcoming 20th anniversary release.

Professor Chill is definitely an artist to watch. This EP is glorious. Buy it.
