A special tribute here on EL-EL. Glynn Alan, who has had tracks on Perfecto and a few other labels, surfaces on Lost Language with a tribute to a friend of his, a promoter, who passed away. This is Shuttlewood and it contains a remix from Starpicker.
The puzzle piece is a four-sided affair with the Original Mix taking up two sides and the Starpicker mix taking the other two sides. There's a reason why I haven't boldened the two mixes; I'm about to. The Original Mix is standard Glynn Alan fare. Immersive and banging, not unlike the other material on the black EL-EL horizon. Glynn's expertise at crafting unique trance bangers shines through here; full of lively synths and vibrant beats. Nice stuff.
With the Starpicker mix, things get deeper, darker and faster. Probably my mix of choice if I'm honest but that's not taking anything away from the original. The EL-EL cube dances a wee bit faster with this mix and there's more static energy moving across its surface. It is darker and has a foreboding atmosphere. Yeah, this is the mix for me.
