No they ain't. Even the slowest ones are about as fast as a HDD for OS work. Plus they're shock resistant and use less power. Win. I don't quite understand why they did it though, why someone would get the MSI branded over the Advent when it's exactly the same machine .... For what it's worth - I've got an Eee 901-X, the SSD is VERY slow, copying images over takes ages (and thats from the inbuilt card reader). I think in the UK you have the "go" model? If so, that has built in 3.5g (or you only have 3g here?) which I really wish mine had.
