» Calling Your Name

Reviewed by Pete M / Submitted 18-05-18 20:19

Label: Solar Storm
Format: Digital
Genre: Trance

This one has been through many iterations over the years. Libra Presents Taylor did the more famous iteration. It was remixed by Ferry Corsten, Granny, Solarstone, Quivver, Evolution and more. Then it was re-released by the singer herself and featured on various comps including Platipus Nine.

Now, its back. With a massive roster of thirteen (!) remixes, this is the ultimate Calling Your Name package around. With a bevy of mixes from Art Of Trance, Gai Barone, Neo & Farina and Kansai, it shapes up to offer something for everyone. And there's a Peter Steele mix to finish up. Oh, and a Thrillseekers mix. Plus quite a few dubs.

My favourite mixes are between Peter Steele's main-room mix and Art Of Trance's seminal remix. Kansai brings the acid for their mix and Thrillseekers opts for the big-room crowd. Lets focus on the Art Of Trance and Peter Steele mixes. Art Of Trance is known as the boss of the mighty Platipus imprint and here, a typically big and bouncy remix. Its a straight-up vocal mix but with wobbly acid bass-lines and benign beats. The Chillout mix, also by AoT, is a cool closer for a set, I think. Peter Steele dropped many a tune on Pure Trance and here, he drops an unforgettable remix of this seminal classic. Belta!

All in all, a solid package and a nice first release for Solar Storm. Can we have more classics remixed please???
