I feel like I have hit a plateau with photography. Moreso on the learning side. Things are beginning to become routine and while I am still grateful for what photography does for me, I feel stagnant. I feel like I am in that middle ground between hobbyist and professional but dont know how to make that next leap. How to learn what seperates good photography from great photography and be consistent on the latter. I really need to ask professionals or something what good practices I need to do or improve on. Hard to find anyone willing to give info out it seems.

I very much understand the communication aspect and theories, and dont know if it is a lack of knowledge or a lack of equipment. The gear I have is a good all around kit, but a more optimal set up might produce better images. Not like I can buy anything now but having a bench mark would at least be something.

Has anyone else felt like this? How did you get past it? Have you found anyone that specializes in your 'niche' willing to mentor you?

Get a new specialist lens ; macro, fish eye. Go on a photography holiday, take a course on something different, set yourself a photography challenge; a week of only black and white, a week of only cars, buildings. Go into the center of town at night. London is awesome for that.

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways totally worn out shouting 'FUCK WHAT A RIDE'
