Latex Zebra returns in the form of “Ninja Warrior”. Yep, the striped one drops his latest tune on us and it is in the form of two remixes by Chris Jennings and Eivissa Groove. The original was put out on another label but will be included in this review. So you get an idea where the remixes got their templates from.
The Original Mix is a tech-filled assault; not too fast but fast enough to have a boogie to in the winter months. Driving synths and thumping beats are the order of the day here and, for me, the striped one has done a good job in encapsulating the feel of a ninja; fast, nimble and able to flip out and kill people at any time. Cos they’re ninjas. So they can do that. Ahem.
Chris Jennings drops the first remix and it’s a sorta slow-paced trance number. It’s certainly measured and more relaxed than the original. That doesn’t make it any less potent. There’s also an Asian feel to the synth work which, for me, is a masterstroke so it has a genuinely ethnic feel. Nice!
Eivissa Cruz drops the final mix and its faster and more full-bodied than Chris’s mix. The acid of the original makes its presence felt, as always, and dives around the track. This is certainly uplifting and epic, despite its 5 minute runtime, but don’t let that put you off. It’s a nicely put-together remix. Good stuff.
