The police response to "petty" crime is worrying, we often hear stories where the police say they are too busy to attend a burglary or fraud but I think that's extending to more serious crimes now.

One point to pick up, historically the Tories have been the party of law and order and put money into policing. Love her or loathe her, Thatcher poured millions into the police in the 1980s, because she knew she'd need them to enforce her union-busting laws.

May's approach to policing has been the complete opposite, just look at her stance at the Home Office, and I think this is going to be her downfall.

Yip, May is a waste of space IMO

I'd save pandas over May.

The current Home Secretary has a contrary relationship to law also:

Jesus, I heard about the Turkish Airlines pilot who refused to take him, didn't realise they'd pressed on anyway.

Jail her for contempt!

Sadly that'll never happen but certainly shines a light on it all.

With all due respect mate. My daughter is 13 and would be seen as a prime target. I know exactly what the risks are etc.
We're careful with her social media stuff. We make sure we know the friends she are meeting are real friends. Recently a girl she had got to know from Instagram ,who was from Sweden said she was coming over and wanted to meet up. What was great was that both her father and I wanted to speak to each other first and also be at the meeting place, despite both coming from different countries, our mindset for safety is the same. The girls met up, the Dad and I went for a coffee and it was all good. It just took a bit of parental effort.
Whilst I appreciate this kind of mob effort, and that is what I see it as, is clearly apprehending people. It is still the role of the parent to educate their children to what is out there. These parents giving their kids Smartphones at 6 years old are also not helping. If they're that lazy a parent they're happy for their kid to be glued to a smartphone at that age they are too lazy to likely monitor it as well. These will be the parents that eventually find out something is amiss and then get a group involved.
If I did find someone was trying to groom Kira I'd take control of the account myself, see what I could get that was incriminating and go to the police first before even considering anything else.
Much as these people are vile etc. I am not of the thinking we should be beating them up or executing them etc. No more than I do for rapists or murderers. I want stuff to be done within the law before Batman gets involved.

Fantastic parenting all round, right here.

Robochick.

Wow, these stats are positive and the police might have to start working with these groups. Brilliant
