Don't know, probably something cheesey like a weekend in Italy or something like that.

But then who cares? I know someone who did this exact thing, bought a her a magnificent ring and it was everything she ever dreamed of.

But what she doesn't know is that in the 13 odd years they've been together he's cheated on her about 30 times. Minimum.

The proposal is meaningless in the scheme of things.

Not nearly as sorry as I feel for you if you blindly believe in "love" and then get burned over and over. Laughs out loud

Well, there's being totally in love and knowing that you would be so happy to spend the rest of your life with them, which doesn't really make it settling. You are only speaking from your perspective of the world/people/relationships, which thankfully isn't the same as others'. I know you've had this discussion before, so it might be best to leave it.

Personally, I like the idea of a romantic proposal somewhere really ace/awesome. But I certainly wouldn't spring the concept on someone without first being sure it was a 'yes' but it would certainly still be something of a surprise.

I personally wouldn't be happy to spend my life with a person I just happened to meet along the way.

Humans are so easily kidded as to what is good for us, and we lack awareness of our limitations.

AS IF somebody you meet now will grow and change in exactly the same way you do, for the rest of your lives. lol It's fine if both parties are pretty manilla characters, I guess.

I've said previously I now have different views about "love". I hate the word and it's so cheap and means fuck all.

I won't be saying it again to anyone unless I am about to get married.

Again, I completely agree.

I think it's pretty sad that people try to paint people as "unromantic" just because they say such things. It may crush their naive dreams of love, but that's their fault for being so naive in the first place.

In the past I've been CONVINCED I loved girls who afterwards I could tell I blatantly didn't. Humans are shite at making such choices, let alone anything more complex like how relationships will change over 30 years.
