Criminals were tricked into handing themselves in after a police force lied to them they had won Christmas hampers.
Yep, all it took for these fugitives to surrender was a promise of bottles of bubbly, wine treats and Christmas puddings.
The ruse involved South Yorkshire Police sending out bogus cards to suspects on the force’s wanted list giving them the good news that they had been specially selected to receive a free hamper.
The card included the words: ‘Cheer at Christmas and memorable moments to your special occasions!’
Oh dear, lol. I'm sure this has been done before, maybe in a movie?
