[Edited by Private1 on 15-04-2014 09:30 AM] Machines that run on body heat
The human body at rest radiates 100 watts of heat—heat that does nothing other than make crowded rooms stuffy. But body heat can be converted to electricity, and new technology is always improving the process. With the rise of wearables, the body heat-powered device becomes an ever more tantalising promise.
The machines will be using us as batteries in no time. a la Matrix..

[Edited by NeonBlue on 16-04-2014 08:34 AM] The Internet of Things
Think of a world where many objects have integrated sensors and wireless data transmission functionality in order to improve your quality of life.
For example, the bathroom of the future may well have sensors built into your mirror and toilet. These sensors will analyse your excretions and composition of your breath in order to determine whether you're low on certain minerals / nutrients or in the process of developing a medical condition (it's now proven that it's possible to detect certain types of cancer from a patients breath). This data could then potentially be sent to your GP in real-time in order for them to take appropriate action.
