Superscreen transforms nearly any phone into a 10-inch tablet

This looks perfect for the ban on taking electronic devices on planes - the airline can "rent" approved superscreens to provide a better experience.

I heard some airlines are renting approved laptops, but that leaves the cargo hold full of devices with lithium-ion batteries which presents another danger Disturbed

As you say, Airlines dont want YOUR laptop \ tablet in the main cabin as it could be rigged. Im sure airlines wont have a problem providing Laptop \ tablet rental, which they can screw people for.

Explosions in the luggage hold arent good, but not bad enough to do much damage.
At worst, they'll lose a lot of luggage and probably have a hole in the plane.
Luggage hold isn't pressurized, wouldnt that also reduce damage?

There was a man in front of me in the queue in tesco's buying condoms.
When the cashier asked if he needed a bag, he said "No, she isn't that ugly"

I heard a discussion on this earlier, apparently cargo holds in modern passenger jets are pressurised but they've got blastproof containers which could help.

The downside is this brings all the lovely lithium-ion batteries into close proximity which increases the risk.

I guess this is like any protective measure and the inevitable response:
Terrorists devise bombing strategy, attempt it (put in luggage, strap to person, shoe bomb, print toner bomb etc) or they release intelligence that they could (mixing liquids, electronic devices etc).
Governments respond with draconian measures to prevent any chance of attack, and being blamed.
Public massively inconvenienced (body scanners, removing shoes, no liquid, not electronic devices etc)
Terrorists laugh and move onto the next fiendish plan.
Repeat ad nauseam.

I think they are pressurised - how do they transport animals otherwise?

They give them jackets?

The Australian Discovery That Could Replace Fossil Fuels

Australian scientists have developed a new efficient catalyst that converts carbon dioxide from the air into synthetic natural gas in a "clean" process, using solar energy.

Undertaken by University of Adelaide in collaboration with CSIRO, the research could make viable a process that has enormous potential to replace fossil fuels and continue to use existing carbon-based fuel technologies without increasing atmospheric CO2.

The catalyst the researchers have developed effectively drives the process of combining CO2 with hydrogen to produce methane (the main component of the fossil fuel natural gas) and water. Currently, natural gas is one of the main fuels used for industrial activities.
