Nothing gets that heated surely?

There have been moments on here that made the cuban missile crisis look like tellytubbies having a standoff.

Totally agree which is why I am not buying the internet bullying fad as something new, just a transferrance to a different media. Wink

I may have worded that a little clumsily but you understand my gist.

The difference is that the Internet is pretty anonymous and I've noticed keyboard warriors get a lot braver when they think they can't be seen or traced. Twitter and ask.fm are perfect examples, more so than Facebook where you are supposed to use your real name which ensures some personal accountability.

Oh, and for the record HF has been responsible for many friendships and relationships, some of which lead to marriage, but I'm not aware of any deaths.

I was going to say violence or deaths, till I remembered incidents at a couple of xmas parties which proved that the internet is real life.

True, but you can turn the internet off a lot easier. Shrugs shoulders or just get better at it. in away there will always be victims in the same way there will always be people with addictive personalities and there will always be nasty vindictive bastards. maybe education will help but by a certain age people should really know better.

My take was that it started out as a joke, DIAF (Die In A Fire) but as often happens with group mentality, some people took it too far. As I recall, the crunch came when someone suggested that a user took a bath and drowned or electrocuted herself.

Over the years, it's been a constant trade off between edgy "jokes" which many people told us were acceptable, and when that crossed the line to outright hatred. Looking back, I think we may have given people a little too much latitude, but I know we'd have lost a lot of our early members had we clamped down hard. At that time the Internet was still perceived as the wild west when anything and everything goes and they'd have moved on.

We all know esp in the clubbing community people who have taken things too far,for some fatal but the ones i recall rarely bothered with the net let alone HF. Bullying doesn't help matters but there's usually an underlying problem to begin with. Turn off & get a hobby.

Most of the people who take things too far are from other walks of life than the clubbing community. Except for tuesdays

Most people i know who have dabbled in drugs have been ravers. Thankfully the majority of us have moved on but unfortunately some have fallen through the cracks. Obviously addictive personalities, personally just give me shoes n bags! I'm in heaven! Thumbs up
