Label: Airspace
Format: Digital
Genre: Trance

And another one from Airspace, this one from an artist called Asciel (almost sounds like an X-Man!) and a track called Ascent with an original mix and an Airscape Epic Mix…. Oooooh.

Ascent – Orginal Mix

Solid percussion sits below rolling synths and basslines and despite clocking in at under 7 minutes long has an almost progressive feel to the way it builds.
The is some kind of subtle Horn in the break that is then followed by an electric piano/guitar type sound playing a simple but effective little melody. Before coming back in gently and trundling along nicely without really taking things up a notch.

7/10

Ascent – Airscape Epic Mix

This mix by label founder Airscape is erm… Epic!
A beatless intro allows for cool squechling possibilities in the mix if the DJ before has left you with an arse of a tune to mix out of. Also be a cool set starter.
More atmospheric than the original and with a much tighter groove. This one packs a little more punch after the breakdown than the original though it is far from being tough.
There is nothing ground breaking going on here but it is a very agreeable tune and I really like it.

8/10

Another good release, always nice to hear trance tunes that don’t have to be overly long with overlong breakdowns.
