Chart Return for Jurrane Submitted 19-Dec-05 (1057 views)
Two charts from me this month: the usual monthly chart and then my top 20 tracks of 2005. Enjoy!
December Trance Chart (artist/title/mix/label):
(1.) Steve Callaghan & Frase: 'The Element' (Ian Betts remix) - Six Thirty This is just one example from Six Thirty’s incredible upcoming release schedule for 2006. Ian tore the roof off Turnmills at the Heat & HF Xmas party with this absolutely belting trancer.
(2.) Alex Gold: 'Better Days' (Saturday Night Special mix) - Xtravaganza A welcome return from Alex Gold here. This release is all about the Saturday Night Special mix: a great piece of pumping trance with vocals that complement rather than detract from the music.
(3.) Kuffdam & Plant: 'Skyline' (Ian Betts remix) - Six Thirty Kufffam & Plant follow up the superb ‘Summer Dream’ with ‘Skyline’, another sublime piece of trance. The Ian Betts remix takes the honours for me with its signature driving style and classy production.
(4.) Kenny Hayes: 'Daybreaker' (Signum dub) - Ligaya Tough, techy trance is the order of the day with this one as Signum inject a healthy dose of power and groove in one of their best remixes for a while. The Airbase mix on the flip is also well worth checking out.
(5.) Christopher Lawrence & Nicholas Bennison: 'Scorcher' (original mix) - Propulsion This collaboration between two of my favourite progressive trance producers doesn’t disappoint as Lawrence & Bennison turn in a snarling, acid-laden dark trance blinder. Propulsion have had a superb year.
(6.) Miller & Fijneman: 'Genuine Draft' (orginal mix) - Outstanding ‘Genuine Draft’ takes off where ‘San Andreas’ left off: pumping, driving tech-trance with a massive breakdown and build. Anyone called Miller who calls their track ‘Genuine Draft’ is doing all right in my book! ;-)
(7.) Jason Cortez: 'God' (original mix) - NuklearPuppy NuklearPuppy resident Jason Cortez is responsible for this massive-sounding piece of power trance which I can see crossing over really well to the hard dance crowd. A great end-of-night tune that kicks like a mule.
(8.) Way Out West: 'Killer' (Orkidea remix) - Solaris Finland’s Orkidea trances up the latest Way Out West release with a truly beautiful remix. Some lovely neat production touches make this a really classy track that comes very highly recommended.
(9.) Acute: 'The Interval' (original mix) – CDR I was lucky enough to get sent this on CDR a few weeks back and can’t say enough good things about it. Watch out for Martin Jarvis aka Acute – this is just one example of a number of his superb productions that deserve to turn more than a few heads.
(10.) Falcon & Fairlight: 'MoonFish' (Peter Dafnous remix) - Inspired Inspired have had an absolutely cracking 2005, releasing tune after tune from some of the best up-and-coming producers around. ‘MoonFish’ is classic melodic uplifting trance with that real ‘back in the day’ sound.
