Trance Chart for June
(1.) Arc In The Sky: ‘Kissed’ (Narthex remix) – Discover Dark A genuine Tune Of The Year contender and a truly jaw-dropping piece of production. This is going to be absolutely massive: futuristic-sounding trance at its best!
(2.) Cloudchaser: ‘Aerodynamic’ – Skywarp Platinum Another massive big-room trancer from the Alphazone stables. Tons of neat production FX and huge firing lead synths. Really looking forward to playing this out in July.
(3.) John O’Callaghan: ‘Stormy Clouds’ (Greg Downey remix) – Discover Dark A very clever, sophisticated and well-produced piece of dark, driving trance. Perfect for those ‘heads down’ moments on the dancefloor.
(4.) Alphazone: ‘Sunrise’ (Cygnific remix) – Waterworld More quality stuff from Alphazone although I’m preferring the slightly-techier Cygnific remix over the original. Powerful stabby synths make this one a winner.
(5.) Icone: ‘Sintra’ – Flux Delux Discover are on a serious roll at the moment. Every tune – and I mean EVERY – tune from Discover/Discover Dark/Flux Delux is of fantastic quality. This one’s a great slice of pumping, driving, melodic trance.
(6.) Cosmic Culture: ‘Oceans’ – Asgard Asgard is a label whose output seems to be improving with every release. I was hooked as soon as I heard this one: nice energetic bouncy trance with enough variation to keep the floor interested.
(7.) Neotechnic: ‘Koinomia’ – Six:Thirty Any collaboration between Matt Williams and Ian Betts – two of my favourite producers – was always going to be good. This doesn’t disappoint - a great debut from Six:Thirty.
(8.) Starlet: ‘Reflections’ – CDR A beautiful solo production from Lizzie Curious. Lovely melodic trance with a perfectly programmed breakdown – a real summer track.
(9.) Thomas Bronzwaer: ‘Close Horizon’ – Yakuza Yakuza is a new addition to Armin van Buuren’s ever-expanding series of labels. ‘Close Horizon’ has that well-produced A State Of Trance feel to it without becoming too formulaic, bland or generic.
(10.) Gavyn Mitchell: ‘Vocoder’ (Mike Koglin remix) – Noys Noys makes a very welcome return with this stormer from Gallery resident Gavyn Mitchell. Both mixes of this release are great with the Mike Koglin remix just edging it for me.
