» So Damn Beautiful 2015

Reviewed by Pete M / Submitted 07-09-15 18:02

Label: Delirium
Format: Digital
Genre: Trance

This is the first release on Dave Pearce's Delirium imprint and is a cover version of Poloroid's "So Damn Beautiful". While it is a trance release, it isn't the 140bpm trance that many of us know. Its more progressive stuff. There's one mix: the Original Mix. Actually, there's a radio edit too but we'll concentrate on the Original.

For those who don't know, "So Damn Beautiful" by Poloroid was featured on the Global Underground 10 compilation in its Amethyst mix form and was big for me when it was first released. I can't remember the year it was released though. Hmm.

Anyway, this 2015 rework by Dave Pearce and Ben Hennessy, on the Delirium label, is softer than most trance releases; mainly catering for the commercial side of the genre. It packs a punch though and is, in some respects, a nice rendition of an old track. However, and this is often the case with releases with one mix on, I think it could benefit from one or two remixes to add new slants to it. I like the main electro riff which, I think, would suit a big and heavy full-on remix.
