Problem is some of those people were prevented by Madrid, who actually endorsed police violence against voters.

And where exactly does socialism come into this?

* edit - aha, I was under the impression that the leading party of catunya was centrist, my bad. However socialism is no better or worse than conservatism/neolibralism with regards to democracy, if anything social democratic parties embody deocracy to an extreme not adhered to by neolibs and conservatives, sometimes to the detriment of effectiveness.

Given that 90% of the 42% who voted backed independence, I'd say that probably backfired on the Spanish Government.

Suffering from a small case of mood poisoning, must be something I hate.
